PHOENIX was built in La Rochelle, France at the Chantier Nautique Marc Pinta yard in 1990. More recent boats to come out of the yard include PRB, an Open 60 that competed in the most recent Around Alone race. In addition to monohulls, Chantier also builds a full line of catamarans. Typical of boats from France, they are built of an inner and outer skin with some type of core, either foam or balsa. Many of Chantier's boats use carbon and Kevlar.
